Team Onion

The Story behind our beloved mascot Vidalia.

For those of you who don't know, Vidalia is a type of sweet onion, grown in southern Georgia and is known for it's sweet, mild taste. There is actually a Vidalia, Georgia and an official Vidalia Onion website (www.vidaliaonion.org). Our Vidalia was born on August 11th, 2007. We adopted her on October 21st. My wife, Kate, is from the deep south and wanted to give our new puppy a southern sounding name. The first time we saw her, Kate said, "She looks like a little onion." That is were the name, Vidalia, was born.

Vidalia has been coming to work with me since the first day that we got her. She has become the official shop mascot. Through the winter, we received many requests to put her face on a tee shirt. At first, we thought that was silly, but after the tenth or so request, we listened. As spring rapidily approached, we decided to put Vidalia on our Silver Star bike jersey. We wanted a jersey that even the most novice biker would be interested in wearing. To become a memeber of Team Onion, you simply just need to buy a jersey.
